Mama Didn’t Know…Self-Love Coaching

About

From Survival to Self-Knowing

Monica Ruvalcaba is a writer, Self-Love Coach, creative mentor, and speaker whose work is rooted in self-discovery, intentional living, and creativity. As the author of Mama Didn’t Know… Herself: From Survival to Self-Knowing, Monica shares her personal journey of breaking generational cycles and realizing that after years of becoming what life needed her to be, she still had to discover who she was for herself.

That discovery became the heart of Mama Didn’t Know—a space encouraging women to get curious about themselves, reconnect with what brings them joy, explore their creativity, and intentionally create a life that feels like their own.

The Journey Behind the Work

For years, Monica knew how to survive, show up, and be who others needed her to be. But somewhere between motherhood, responsibilities, expectations, and healing from the past came a different question:

Who am I when I’m not just surviving?

Answering that meant getting curious again. Trying new things. Revisiting what brought her joy as a child. Creating. Setting boundaries. Spending time with herself and learning to pay attention to what made her feel alive.

Through that journey, Monica discovered that self-love isn’t only something we say or practice—it’s something we experience. And sometimes finding your purpose begins by simply giving yourself permission to explore.

What Monica Believes

  • Self-love is something we experience—through the choices we make, the things we try, and the way we show up for ourselves.
  • Curiosity can lead us back to ourselves. Reconnecting with what once brought us joy can reveal parts of ourselves we’ve forgotten.
  • Creativity gives us permission to explore, express, and discover who we are becoming.
  • Purpose doesn’t always come before the journey. Sometimes we find it by following what makes us feel alive.

Today

Monica brings this philosophy into her coaching, creative mentorship, writing, speaking, and workshops—creating spaces where women can explore who they are, what they enjoy, what they want to create, and what they want their lives to feel like.

Her work is an invitation to get curious, try something new, create without fear, and intentionally make room for more of what brings you alive.

Because knowing yourself isn’t the end of the journey—it changes the way you choose to live it.
